JÜRGEN KLAUKE
Jürgen Klauke (*1943, Kliding near Cochem) is one of the pioneers of staged photography. The collaboration with him goes back to the mid-1990s. The stage, produced by him with the full commitment of his person, asks questions about the self-conception of the sexes, their seemingly indissoluble and frightening tension in all its drastic and aesthetically tamed ruthlessness. Klauke’s body of drawn works also received overdue recognition in recent years via retrospective museum exhibitions, including at the Max Ernst Museum (2017) and the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Arts and Sciences (2018).
