Asana Fujikawa (*1981, Tokyo) first studied European Art and Teaching at Nagoya Zokei Universtity in Aichi, Japan and received her diploma in 2003. From 2009 onwards she studied Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg with Matt Mullican and graduated with a master’s degree in 2016. Towards the end of her studies, Asana Fujikawa began to transpire her narrative images into ceramics. With her figures and scenes, she designs her own worlds, spins mythologies further and creates them herself. Not only elements from Japanese of European mythology and Shintō are incorporated, but also political events and Fujikawa’s own everyday experiences. This manifests itself in sketches, notes, texts, and especially in her ceramics.
In 2017 she was part of the Rundgang 50 Hertz and National Gallery Berlin scholarship exhibition. In 2019/2020 her works were shown in the double exhibition Figuren der fließenden Welt together with works by David Hockney at the Georg Kolbe Museum Berlin and OP ENHEIM in Wrocław, Poland. She has also had solo exhibitions at Kunstverein Cuxhaven and Schloss Clemenswerth, among others. In 2022-2023, a ceramic group by Fujikawa made for the group exhibition Sisters & Brothers. Geschwister in der Kunst is presented at the Kunsthalle Tübingen and Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz. In 2023, she received the 1st prize of the Poolhaus-Prize for Young Art. Asana Fujikawa lives and works in Hamburg.

In 2017 she was part of the Rundgang 50 Hertz and National Gallery Berlin scholarship exhibition.
