Cornelius Völker (*1965) studied with A.R. Penck and Dieter Krieg in Düsseldorf. Since 2005, he holds a professorship at the Kunstakademie Münster. Since 2018 he is a member of the member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
He is known for his depiction of everyday objects, which he transforms into charged images conveying subtle ambiguity. His painting dissects the material nature of things and the human attitude towards them, before the eye of the beholder. At the same time, the beautiful hovering between abstraction and figuration can be experienced in each painting.
