HARTMUT NEUMANN
Hartmut Neumann’s nature inspired images (drawings, paintings, photographs, etchings and installations) question the boundaries and transitions between fantasy and reality. In some works, the often paradisiacal-looking flora is also an ornamental underpinning for a teasing, opulent fauna. The works show a holistic representation of a naturalistic mimesis up to surreal elements.
Neumann was born in Delmenhorst near Bremen in 1954. He attended the Hochschule für Künste Bremen with Prof. Rolf Thiele and has been a professor himself at the HBK Braunschweig since 1992. In 2022 he became emeritus professor.
Today, he lives and works in Cologne.
